Before 5 o’clock, the room was organized, full of unsampled chili, and devoid of hungry guests. Scroll down to see a very different scene as the night wore on and the chili couldn’t be scooped too quickly…

It became clear early on that this particular Chili, created by our own Joanne Petrillo, was a crowd-pleaser. In fact, the crowd awarded “JoJo’s Indian Chicken Chili” First Prize in the People’s Choice category.

This is Chiller, of “Chiller’s Chillin’ Chili Chicanery”, dancing because John Bolduc was awarded Second Place in the People’s Choice category for this innovative blend of sweetness and bite. “There were many ingredients”, according to John, “two of which are special ingredients to remain a secret. The Chili Spies are everywhere!” Both ingredients are still legal in the state of Connecticut... for now.

This is what remains of “JoJo’s Indian Chicken Chili” at the end of the night—namely, an empty pot and the few scraps of chili that missed the cup. Joanne won first place in the 2003 People’s Choice category and second place in both 2004 and 2005.

To the left, we have Ray and Luanne Stone from Stone Insurance of Suffield, LLC. Ray won first place in the People’s Choice category for five years straight and opted not to enter this year, much to the disappointment of the fans of “Ray’s Sweet Chili”.
